Sneak Peek at Creativity at Work

On Monday, I received an exciting email alerting me that a few advance copies of my book Creativity at Work arrived at powerHouse Books.  I still can't believe my own book is now sitting on my coffee table!  It will be released on October 30, 2012 and you can pre-order it now on Amazon.com and BN.com. Until then, here's a little sneak peek at a few pages.  Hope you like it!

Chic at NYIGF: Hillary Thomas Designs

Another great thing about attending the NYIGF is meeting my sponsors in person.  I didn't get to meet Hillary of Hillary Thomas Designs but I did get to meet her partner and co-founder, Clara Hendon. I also got to see the full line of finials in person including the new collaborative designs with Alexandra Von Furstenberg.  They also carry fabulous malachite bowls and bags from Stephanie Johnson in the Chic Shop.  Chic indeed.

I need to order this bowl!

Chic at the NYIGF: D. Bryant Archie Textiles

The best part of attending gift shows is catching up with your favorite exhibitors. I met D. Bryant Archie years ago and I always look forward to seeing her and her gorgeous textiles.  What you can't experience at home is how fabulous they all feel.  The alpaca throws are butter soft and the embroidery adds just a touch of decoration.  Don't even get me started on the beautiful colors.  And to top it all off, the textiles give jobs to artisans in Peru.  It doesn't get any chicer.

Haiku Ceiling Fan Giveaway

We're in the dog days of summer and who couldn't use a fan to help keep cool.  Even if you have air conditioning, a ceiling fan can help circulate air in the summer and even move hot air down in the winter.  Haiku, the world’s most energy-efficient ceiling fan confirmed by Energy Star, efficiently moves air but also looks chic at the same time. The "sleek profile conceals patent-pending electronics and cool-running motor with an integrated inverter drive that delivers an 80% improvement in energy efficiency over conventional ceiling fans."

Kentucky-based Big Ass Fans, the company behind Haiku,  has generously offered to give one lucky reader in the United States a fan.   You can choose from the Haiku in Bamboo, available in Caramel or Cocoa, which retails for $995 or the matrix composite, in Black or White for $825.   They look great in living rooms, bedrooms, kitchens, and even covered porches ( matrix composite style only).  To enter this giveaway, please leave a comment on the blog under the comments section of this post with your name and which type of fan is your favorite.  One entry per person. This giveaway is only open to US residents and does not include the cost of installation.  Entries can be received until 11:59pm on Friday, August 24, 2012. One winner will be chosen by random and announced on Saturday, August 25, 2012.  Good Luck!
