Thanks Aerin!

Big thanks to my style and business idol Aerin Lauder for including me on her list of twitter accounts to follow during fashion week! I love being sandwiched between NY1 Weather, very important to follow when getting dressed each day, and legendary fashion designer Michael Kors.

While I might have complained about the weather in LA recently on twitter, I try not to complain about anything during fashion week (except maybe when someone steals my seat) because I know a million girls (and a few boys) would kill to be there. The fun starts for me on Wednesday afternoon and runs though February 14th if you want to follow along too.

You can check out the full list of "ten social-savvy industry insiders and the Twitter and Instagram accounts that, in addition to @voguemagazine, they love to follow" here

Chic at Chanel

I wasn't invited to Scotland for the Chanel Metiers d'Art show at Linlithgow Palace in December but I was invited to the New York showroom to see the pre-fall 2013 collection recently.  We all know Chanel is known for its amazing textiles and embroidery but you can't appreciate it until you see it up close.  My favorite pieces are the tweed covered bracelets above and the flask bags.  I mean what could be chicer than sneaking a drink from your Chanel flask at a football game.  Too bad they won't be available for the Superbowl.

I am going to save my pennies for the patchwork tweed boots on the left.  They will definitely jazz up all grey outfits next winter.

Chic in LA: Nathan Turner Design

I missed seeing interior designer Nathan Turner's new store when I was in Los Angeles last year so it was at the top of my list this trip.  As I mentioned, it was even more special because I was able to chat with him for an hour before he was off to New York for the NYIGF.  If Mary McDonald didn't have the flu, I would have begged for her to join us.  Watching Mary and Nathan giggle on Million Dollar Decorators is my favorite part of the show.  They only agreed to do the show if they could do it together and even though Nathan isn't officially part of the cast this season, he can still be seen hanging out with Mary.

This new store location on Melrose Avenue came about after a rent increase on his space at Almont Yard when he realized he could have a bigger space for less rent on a busy street.  Looks like Daisy above feels very at home in this new space. It was also exciting to walk in and see a stack of my book Creativity at Work just begging to be signed.   Nathan's book Nathan Turner's American Style: Classic Design and Effortless Entertaining was released just before my book and it was fun to chat about our ideas for our next books.  I can't wait until his is ready because I love the concept and know you will too.

I had a reader accidentally reply to their email subscription of my LA in a Nutshell post that said, "Totally envious of her trip and all things she has access too - Like cutie Nathan Turner!" Sometimes I have to pinch myself and remember how lucky I am to get to meet such talented and lovely people but I don't think any of them have been as nice as "cutie" Nathan Turner.  Definitely stop by his new shop when you are in LA!

My book!

This little donkey painting was my favorite thing in the store.

I don't know what I love more, the lamp or the bag.
