Chic at Cannes

The Cannes Film Festival is in full swing on the French Riviera right now but stars have been posing on La Croisette since the first festival in 1947. The heyday for me was the time of the late 1950's to early 1960's from when these photos were taken.  While today's celebrities look pretty good, they can't hold a candle to the movie stars of the past. C'est magnifique!

TCM Elizabeth Taylor Tribute

I can't believe that I've never seen Elizabeth Taylor's classic film Butterfield 8 especially after seeing photos of Fifth Avenue apartment with fabulous blue walls.  If you haven't seen it either, TCM (Turner Classic Movies) will be airing it and 9 other Elizabeth Taylor films April 10th in a 24 hour tribute to the late movie star.  I look forward to watching her progress from a young girl in National Velvet to an older woman in Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf?  I've heard Butterfield 8 described as the Sex and the City of 1960 so I can't wait to see how much dating in New York has changed in the last 50 years.  I'm guessing not very much!

I was very saddened to hear of the passing of Dame Elizabeth Taylor today. The world will definitely miss her radiance.
