Happily Everlane After

One of the first things I did when I returned from my last book signing trip was clean out my closet.  I actually had to since I could barely close the door and I really needed to get rid of some stuff.  I read once that we wear 20% of our clothes 80% of the time.  I know what works for me but yet I give in to trying new things and regret it which was why my closet was jam packed with things I never wore.

From now on, I’m sticking to chic basics dressed up with great jewelry and shoes which makes Everlane perfect for me.  I was thinking about ordering from them for a while but just wasn’t sure about sizing and quality.  Lucky for me, they have a “Not a Shop Pop Up” going on right now in New York.  I stopped by on Sunday and got to try on everything and confirm that it all feels as great as it looks.  You can only buy the cashmere sweaters with elbow patches on site and I look forward to picking up mine this weekend as well as placing an order for a few more, as well as some scarves and belts. I think I might have to make a little more room in the closet again.

Gimme Shelter

Speaking of mood boards, let's take a minute to behold the not one but two epic mood boards in the Shelter Half pop up shop in Los Angeles.  My photographer friend Nicholas Maggio was kind enough to take me by for a visit on my last trip.  Shelter Half is dedicated to Made in America products and is a carefully curated mix of interesting products, artwork, furniture, and even some food. It was organized by Davide Burruto, the owner of Environment Furniture who I unfortunately missed meeting in LA and in New York when he was in town for the New York International Gift Fair.  Among the items for sale, I especially loved the Retro Specs and Arcana books. And if I had any wall space left in my apartment, I would definitely buy some art by Brady Erickson. I highly recommend stopping by on your next visit to Los Angeles.

Chic in NY: Chance Pop Up Shop

Julia Leach has already created a cult classic with her line Chance and its chic website.  Now she has expanded to a new pop up shop where you can experience the brand in person.  From May through June, you can pick up everything you need for a relaxing summer including soft striped tees, espadrilles, snacks, and even a bag in which to pack it all. I have a feeling that this is just the beginning.  Julia has mentioned wanting to expand into cashmere and sweaters and even a hotel.  If it's anything like the pop up shop, I'll be making the first reservation! Happy Shopping!
