Christie's Arbiter of Style

Christie's auction house was kind enough to as me to be their Arbiter of Style this month.  I chose my favorite pieces from the upcoming Interiors Sale, taking place June 18 and 19 in New York, including this gorgeous painting Anemones with Red Cloth above by artist Nell Blaine. I also answered some fun questions you can read here. I've learned so much from attending auction previews over the years that I highly recommend stopping by even if you think you can't afford anything.  And who knows, you might just get lucky and find something great! Thanks again Christie's! 

Judging a Room by its Covers

Not only am I going to need a library to house all my books someday but shelves on which to display my favorite covers.  A lot of time and effort goes into the cover art of books so why not display them as you would a painting. Chandelier Creative, above, even opens some of them up.  Now that is creative.

Marvelous Malene

I know I just posted a lot of color but what's really been inspiring lately is black and white. It's the hot look for spring 2013 fashion and it's still a classic for the home.  You might remember that Danish fashion designer Malene Birger is also a fan from this post.   Well, she's been at it again at her new home in Palma, Mallorca. The article was in Dutch so I can't tell you any more but as we know, a picture is worth a thousand words. I really wish she's open a store in New York but until that happens, you can shop for By Malene online at Shopbop and Net-a-Porter.

Basquiat at Gagosian

If you want to brave the snow drifts in New York this weekend, I suggest an outing to the Gagosian Gallery on West 24th Street for the Jean-Michel Basquiat exhibition.  Or you can wait for warmer weather since it runs through April 6, 2013.  This major exhibition will feature over fifty works by the artist who died before his time at the age of 27 in 1988. As with any Gagosian show, I can already tell this one is going to be amazing. I just might wait to see it until my street is plowed. Bon Weekend!
