Sponsor Spotlight: Fab Holiday Shop

The original present I picked out for my dad was a fun mustache mug that sold out right away.  My next option is to get his old school music library downloaded onto an iPod and then buy him this Geneva XS Speaker so he can listen to music anywhere in the house. 

My mom loved anything furry so this Icelandic Sheepskin would be perfect for her and her little dogs too. 

And last but not least, I think I deserve a present.  I've been in love with this George Nelson Tripod Clock since I first saw it in Domino magazine many years ago.  If anyone would like to slip this into my stocking, I would be completely amenable to that idea.

Taigan Holiday Gift Guide

As a busy person, I appreciate a good gift guide to help me navigate the holiday season. Taigan has tapped ten tastemakers to share their favorite holiday finds in a variety of categories in their Holiday Catalog.  New mom and magazine editor Tori Mellott has chosen her favorites "For the Tots" and Emily Weiss of Into the Gloss gives picks for "The Beauty Guru"among others including me. Since I'm a new author, Taigan asked me to choose my favorite tomes "For the Bookworm". It should making shopping easier for everyone.  And if you're looking for a gift for me, I'll gladly take that vintage copy of Out of Africa.

Habitually Chic Christmas

The most exciting about my new apartment is that it has room for a large Christmas tree.  Even better was that Green Valley Christmas Trees was kind enough to send me one. I haven't put up a tree in a few years and it was so much fun unpacking all my old ornaments.  I especially love the ones that I bought in an antiques shop on Gamla Stan in Stockholm.  I didn't create a color scheme because all my ornaments are meaningful and remind me of Christmases past.  

This little guy from Sweden isn't an ornament but I wired him to the tree. 

I love the little knit sweaters and mittens. 

I bought two boxes of vintage ornaments at the flea market this year. 

One box went on the tree and the other into an old silver bowl. 

My Amaryllis is finally blooming. 

This little Santa and tree also came from Sweden. 

I hung a wreath on my new resin antlers from Suzanne Kasler for Ballard. 

The Delft snowman and tree came from my parents many years ago.

Even my topiaries get into the holiday spirit with a simple red ribbon bow.

Christmas in Kentucky

When I was in Louisville, Kentucky recently, I was lucky enough to stop by the shop of interior designer Lee W. Robinson.  It was already decorated for Christmas and looked like Santa's very chic workshop.
